The Paris Climate Change Agreement, concluded in Paris, France, in December 2015, will enter into force on November 4, 2016. Two thresholds had to be reached before this new legal reality could become true: ratification by more than 55 countries who together account for more than 55% of the global greenhouse gas emissions was required to make this happen. And on October 5, 2016, these two thresholds were reached, paving the way for the agreement’s entry into force thirty days later, on November 4, 2016. This is historic.
