Stand Up 2009 - End Poverty Now!

A worldwide total of 116,993,629 people participated in STAND UP and TAKE ACTION in 2008, setting a new Guinness World Record. This is a great accomplishment, and we hope this year to break the record again!

Stand Up is an awareness campaign to remind world leaders of their commitment to end poverty and deliver the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These goals include environmental sustainability, ending poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education and gender equality, improving child health and maternal health, and combating HIV and AIDS and malaria. Today, these goals are becoming more crucial than ever before, given the global, economic situation. It is important that world leaders are reminded of their promises to meet the MDGs by 2015!

Please make your voice heard by standing up and taking action between October 16-18, 2009!

Taking Action does not only entail standing up. It can include writing to a local politician, donating old clothes, helping a food bank, or organizing a campaign. Small or big, it doesn’t matter. Every action will change and further a better world.
